I cannot open my drives with double clicking. Now i need to specify the drive letter in the address bar to open it.
C drive(local disk) opens up normally. But when i try to open other drives, it shows an 'open with' window with a list of programs. I dont know what to do.
Is this a virus attack? How can i fix this without reinstalling the OS?

It looks like your computer is infected with virus!
Just see whether you have any file called autorun.inf on those drives. (Sometimes it might be hidden, so you need to make it visible using folder options). If you have autorun.inf, rename all those to something else, restart and see whether it fixes the problem. Use following DOS commands if windows explorer is not helping.
attrib -h -s -r *.inf
ren *.inf *.txt
If this solution is not helping, install some good antivirus software (McAfee, AVG, Norton etc..) and do a complete system scan. You can download evaluation versions just for fixing the issue and uninstall after your use. (If one antivirus is not working, try another one; Anyway, you don't have to reinstall your OS)
